Best Places to Visit in North Wales

Earlier in the year I was lucky enough to spend a few days over in Wales, 10 years since I had last visited. Boy was it fun. Not only was it a great time to relax on the beach but also go on a zip line and jump on fishing ropes in old mining caves.  We chose a hotel in Blaenau Ffestiniog, Snowdonia which did the job, but not anything to write home about.

Zipworld

Home to thee worlds fasted zip-line over at their Penrhyn Quarry (North Wales) location. We visited their Llechwedd (North Wales). Which has Cave Trampolining, I mean who came up with this idea? It was absolutely brilliant but there were a few tight areas that my 5ft7 self struggled to get through. I would definitely recommend listening to their advice about wearing trousers and long sleeves but I would go a step further and say to make them thick as I still ended up with a few rope burns.

Their Zip Line was also incredibly fun. It starts by taking a trip up the slate mines in an Army Truck then a short walk to the zip lines themselves. The truck ride was BEAUTIFUL it was best to keep phones away so didn't snap any pictures but wow. Many of us thought it would only be one line, pretty sure that's what's implied on their site, but it is in fact two which makes it even more worth the money.

The total cost was £78.12pp which included Cave Trampolining, The Zip-line and camera for the zip-line which gives you videos of your full time in the air, an edited video and photos.

Harlech Castle

This isn't the biggest castle I've visited but the first one where I've been able to climb to the top to get some great views. Home to the longest siege in British history, this castle is packed with so much to learn. Adult tickets are around £8.30 (as off October 2022), and it has a cafe, classically more expensive than ones just a few minutes away and a really nice gift shop.

When you're at the top you'll see the beginning of the beach just after the golf course. This is a Beautiful beach even with the dark grey skies, I wish I stayed longer. Although parking seems to be very limited near it.

Cwmorthin Waterfall

We found this on a little google maps scroll and it was truly worth the steep drive. The waterfall is absolutely gorgeous and the views surrounding it are equally as great. There are quite a few walking routes around it and would be a great hike for anyone interested. Parking was free when we went which is even better.

Beyond the places to visit, Wales is a beautiful place to drive around. With views for miles you are never bored as long as you know how to drive up hills.

Top 5 Sustainable Travel Finds

Upgrading my bathroom essentials and wardrobe with a sustainable but travel practical mindset has been a major goal for this year. I won't lie, it's been difficult, especially when it comes to soap bars. There's been a-lot of trial and error, now I'm finally compiling lists of favourites/ There's been a lot of learnings: Bars = no liquid limitations and they're much more packable than odd shaped bottles. If you let them dry sufficiently theres no leaking too. We all know this, but you pay for quality when it comes to clothing. This year I've finally realised this. While the items I previously bought would have lasted a few years I know just from the quality of new purchases these ones will last closer to a decade if looked after properly, even if you're hiking in them regularly. Investing this money now means you spend less in the long run but you can also take advantage of sales to make it more attainable for tighter budgets. Four of these brands are UK...
