Upgrading my bathroom essentials and wardrobe with a sustainable but travel practical mindset has been a major goal for this year. I won't lie, it's been difficult, especially when it comes to soap bars. There's been a-lot of trial and error, now I'm finally compiling lists of favourites/ There's been a lot of learnings: Bars = no liquid limitations and they're much more packable than odd shaped bottles. If you let them dry sufficiently theres no leaking too. We all know this, but you pay for quality when it comes to clothing. This year I've finally realised this. While the items I previously bought would have lasted a few years I know just from the quality of new purchases these ones will last closer to a decade if looked after properly, even if you're hiking in them regularly. Investing this money now means you spend less in the long run but you can also take advantage of sales to make it more attainable for tighter budgets. Four of these brands are UK
Earlier in the year I was lucky enough to spend a few days over in Wales, 10 years since I had last visited. Boy was it fun. Not only was it a great time to relax on the beach but also go on a zip line and jump on fishing ropes in old mining caves. We chose a hotel in Blaenau Ffestiniog, Snowdonia which did the job, but not anything to write home about. Zipworld Home to thee worlds fasted zip-line over at their Penrhyn Quarry (North Wales) location. We visited their Llechwedd (North Wales). Which has Cave Trampolining, I mean who came up with this idea? It was absolutely brilliant but there were a few tight areas that my 5ft7 self struggled to get through. I would definitely recommend listening to their advice about wearing trousers and long sleeves but I would go a step further and say to make them thick as I still ended up with a few rope burns. Their Zip Line was also incredibly fun. It starts by taking a trip up the slate mines in an Army Truck then a short walk to the zip lines
